An error on his voter registration card could have meant a Deschutes County resident would not have been able to vote in the upcoming May primary election. A Bend resident, who wishes to be identified only as "Dale", says he registered as a Democrat several weeks ago through the Deschutes County Clerk's Office. He says, when he received his voter registration card, he noticed it indicated he was not affiliated with any political party. Fortunately, Dale was able to reregister as a Democrat before the April 29th voter- registration deadline. Deschutes County Clerk Nancy Blankenship says she hasn't heard of any problems like Dale's occurring in her office, but she says, if there were such an error, her office would invalidate the incorrect ballot and reissue the correct ballot. She says some voters in the county who recently registered or switched parties may not have received their new voter cards yet, but they're coming. She says the priority right now is mailing out ballots.
